This radio show has been doing the rounds recently and I thought I'd post it as it's well worth hearing. Supposedly from 1969, a radio show from Jamaica broadcast shortly after the death of Don Drummond.

Maximum respect to Lepke for making this available through the Blood & Fire message board.
This rhythm first appeared around July time but through unofficial channels only, sadly it hasn't had a proper release. It's a great rhythm with some superb cuts on it that really deserve to be heard. that's why we've done this mix.

Wade Brammer AKA Trinity was far more prolific as a DJ that he was as a producer. However is the late 70's his Flag Man imprint managed a small number of releases of real quality, not surprisingly the DJ sides tend to be of higher quality than the vocal efforts but all deserve to be heard.

Four great rhythms from the mighty Rupie Edwards dating from 1969 to 1972.
Rupie is rarely placed in the top flight of Reggae producers from the '70's, though from his work with Gregory Isaacs at the turn of the decade right through to his groundbreaking Yamaha Skank LP and chart topping hits Irie Feelings and Leggo Skanga
it's clear that greater recognition is thoroughly deserved. Look out for part 2!

There is no special theme to this selection of Rocksteady tunes. We've tried to stray off the beaten track with rhythms that haven't been versioned a million times before, though many of them are easily stong enough to deserve greater recognition than they've received up to now.

In the late 60's Clancy Collins AKA Sir Collins Downbeat started releasing Rocksteady tunes on his Collins Downbeat label. From the start he had a relationship with Bunny Lee who provided mastertapes that were either released as they were or overdubbed in the UK with singers, DJs or instrumental solos.
You can hear this on three rhythms on this mix. Music Field, Grab A Girl and You Don't Care (I'm Shocking...). Delroy Wilson's Live As One (on a Joe Gibbs original) and the Marlene Webber tune both date from around 1971 shorlty before the next chapter of Sir Collins musical career with the establishment of his Sir Collins Music Wheel label.

Dance Crasher revisits the late 80's once more with a selection of tunes from producer Phillip "Fatis" Burrell. Fatis is best known for his late 90's Concious tunes when he had the likes of Sizzla and Luciano firmly in his camp. These tunes predate that era and present some of the earlier productions of Fatis on his Vena, Exterminator (and later Xterminator) labels from the later half of the 80's and early 90's.

Parish Records was run by Edgar White between 1986 and 1991. This mix features a number of tunes released on the label in that period.
Starting and ending with tracks by the hugely underated Everton Chambers alongside more well known names such as King Everald and Tiger all tunes are taken from 7" except for Inexperience Lover which is from a 12". There are some trademark rhythms here such as Stalag and Sleng Teng, others are one offs but no weaker because of that.
Enjoy.
